Formed in 2014 by Logan Ball, Kevin Hanrahan, Matt Penland, and Colin Walker, Odd River is a contemporary music ensemble focusing on percussion chamber music. Together, they strive to champion both the standards in the percussive repertoire as well as new works for percussion and mixed chamber ensemble. In doing so, they deliver performances for diverse audiences and concert environments while employing an extensive sound scape that is intriguing to both casual listeners and musicians alike.

Odd River recently completed their debut tour in Chicago, where they were featured at the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival (CIMMFest). Currently, they are planning tours in Pennsylvania and Tennessee. The Pennsylvania tour includes a residency at Kutztown University with Dr. Frank Kumor. During their stay, they will coach percussion ensemble works, meet one-on-one with students for private lessons, and perform a concert of works by Cage, Cole, Lunsqui, Munson, and Applebaum. In the spring of 2016, Odd River will make stops at the University of Tennessee and Tennessee Tech University.

Odd River is passionate about the new path that percussion music is creating. While enjoying the masterworks of composers such as Cage, Reich, and Xenakis, they hope to usher in a new era that continues to push the boundaries of music.
